Chalet Ave Maria

Parfaire la composition du hameau. L’implantation du projet vient en prolongement de la composition existante du hameau. Le chalet, de taille modeste, est propice à l’écriture architecturale d’une remise, ainsi l’aspect aléatoire et pragmatique du bardage reprend les codes des remises et granges alentours et du Val Montjoie souvent situés à proximité des fermes. Les façades sont composées de décalage marqué par des larmiers. L’utilité est double, ventiler le bardage et empêcher les apponses. Ces éléments, initialement techniques, deviennent des modénatures soulignant ici et là, une ouverture et indiquant les décalages de niveau verticaux et horizontaux. Une architecture simple au premier regard mais riches de détails. La physionomie du terrain est particulière. Il s’agit d’une bande étroite perpendiculaire à la plus grande pente mais ayant aussi une déclivité du Sud au Nord. Il s’agit d’un ancien dépôt de moraine glacière ou de gros blocs de roches qui se sont amassés. Le chalet s’assoit dans cette environnement en respectant la topographie. Il prend une posture panoramique valorisant les vues et les entrées de lumière depuis l’intérieur. Le chalet et en mélèze brossé de teint naturel, il grisera dans le temps à la façon des fermes environnantes.

Perfecting the composition of the hamlet. The project's location is an extension of the existing hamlet. The modestly sized chalet lends itself to the architectural style of a shed, with the random, pragmatic appearance of the cladding echoing the style of the surrounding sheds and barns and the Val Montjoie, which are often located near farms. The façades are composed of offset elements marked by drip mouldings. These have a dual purpose: to ventilate the cladding and prevent condensation. These elements, which were initially technical in nature, become decorative features that highlight openings here and there and indicate vertical and horizontal level differences. The architecture is simple at first glance but rich in detail. The terrain is unusual. It is a narrow strip perpendicular to the main slope but also sloping from south to north. It is an ancient glacial moraine or a collection of large boulders. The chalet sits in this environment, respecting the topography. It has a panoramic position that enhances the views and the light entering from inside. The chalet is made of naturally coloured brushed larch, which will weather over time in the same way as the surrounding farms.
